SpamRescue is a service of CompanionLink Software, Inc. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This policy explains what data we collect, how it is used, and your rights under GDPR and CCPA.
When you register, we store your email address and a hashed password. No plain-text passwords are ever stored. When you connect a mailbox, we store the credentials needed to access your mail — either OAuth tokens (for Gmail and Outlook) or your IMAP password (for other mail servers). These credentials are stored using AES-256 encryption, which is required so the app can authenticate with your mail server on your behalf. We store message metadata — sender address, subject line, received date, and spam score — for the purpose of presenting your inbox to you. We do not store the body or attachments of your email messages.
We use your data solely to operate SpamRescue: to connect to your mailbox, score incoming messages, and carry out the actions you authorize (rescue, hide, delete). We do not use your email metadata for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering the service to you.
SpamRescue accesses your mailbox on your behalf using the permissions you grant. We only read message headers and metadata required for spam scoring. We do not read, store, or transmit the full content of your messages to any third party.
This site uses Google Analytics to measure basic traffic — page views and visitor counts. Advanced tracking is disabled. Google Analytics may set cookies on your device and send anonymized usage data to Google in accordance with their own privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. Google Analytics sets additional tracking cookies for traffic measurement. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
SpamRescue does not send your email content to any AI service. Spam scoring is performed using statistical analysis of message metadata — sender address, subject line, and header data only. Your email body and attachments are never read, stored, or transmitted to any third party including AI providers. This is a deliberate design decision.
You control whether our support team can view your account data to assist you. This setting is on by default for trial and free accounts, and off by default for paid accounts. You can change it at any time in your account settings. When support access is off, our team cannot view your mailbox data, message list, or account details.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except as required by law or as necessary to deliver the service (e.g., OAuth tokens are passed to Google or Microsoft to authenticate your mailbox). We do not track you across other sites.
We will send you transactional emails related to your account — including purchase confirmations, payment receipts, expiring credit card notices, and other account management messages necessary to keep your service running smoothly. These cannot be opted out of as they are essential to the service.
We may also send marketing emails such as discount offers and product updates. Marketing email is opt-in only. You can change your preference at any time in your account settings. We limit marketing messages to the minimum needed to be useful — we have no interest in filling your inbox.
Message metadata is retained while your account is active to power your SpamRescue dashboard. If you close your account or request deletion, your data is removed within 30 days. Deleted messages are removed from your mailbox immediately and are not recoverable.
Under GDPR and CCPA, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. You may request that we remove your account and all associated data. Please use our Forget Me page to make this request.
